Упражнение 1 (из учебника «Грамматика. Сборник упражнений.» Ю.Голицынский). Спросите, чьи это предметы и ответьте, перефразируя приведенные ниже словосочетания. Используйте притяжательный падеж.

Упражнение 2. Поставьте апостроф в нужное место и переведите предложение.

Одна из главных сложностей русского языка - это большое количество падежей и несколько видов склонения. В этом отношении в английском все гораздо проще - в нем всего два падежа. Различают общий и притяжательный.

Второй употребляется в том случае, когда необходимо указать на принадлежность живого или неживого кому-либо/чему-либо. На письме его легко распознать: ключевые признаки - это апостроф (’) и окончание «-s». Обычно слову, стоящему в этом падеже, можно задать вопросы «Чье? Чья? Чей? Чьи?». К примеру, «a girl’s life» (переводится «жизнь девочки»), students’ future («будущее студентов»).
